Oh my, I really should update this…
After many years of throwing my heart into other sports (taekwondo and rugby), I returned to my roots as a runner. I completed my first marathon in September 2010, second in May 2011, third in March 2012, and fourth in May 2014 (and looking forward to many more in the future). My most recent milestones were completing my first iron distance triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run), the Beach2Battleship tri in Wilmington, NC on October 20, 2012. (Race Reports: part 1, part 2, part 3) I also completed my second Ironman at Ironman Lake Placid on July 28, 2013 (Race reports: Pre-Race, The Swim, The Bike, The Run), and third at Ironman Boulder on August 3, 2014 (Race reports: Pre-Race, The Swim, The Bike, The Run).
The taekwondo days. Just to clarify – I’m the one doing the kicking. 🙂
Ahh… Rugby. I do miss the tackling…
My best friend and me – just after crossing the finish line at my first marathon.
I live with my two dogs (Jade and Rocket) in Boulder, CO. I love being outside and enjoying the beautiful area. Every day here is absolutely spectacular.
(Not Boulder. :-))
Besides training, I love to do crafty things, organize/clean, sing and dance, and play with my dogs. I have my own motorcycle and I love going for scenic rides when the weather cooperates. Fortunately, Colorado is a great place for this!
My other favorite thing (besides running) is COOKING. In 2009 I went vegetarian. In 2010, I took the next step and went vegan. Before making those transitions, I never enjoyed food or was even remotely interested in cooking. Now I am quite the foodie and vegan cook! I feel a million times better than I did before, and I love playing with my food.
Now, I’m busy busting my butt as a Ph.D. student, exploring amazing Colorado, and getting ready for my 2015 race lineup!
